#34 🧭💡Apply Eliminate-Reduce-Raise-Create to your personal strategy
Adapted from blue ocean strategy
Eliminate-Reduce-Raise-Create (ERRC) is a useful tool to explore unlocking blue oceans in business strategy.
I invite you to apply it to your personal strategy by considering the following questions:
Eliminate: what will I stop doing in this context?
Reduce: what will I do less in this context?
Raise: what will I do more in this context?
Create: what will I start doing in this context?
The four questions help adjust your way forward in a specific context.
Used in this way, ERRC is similar to and simpler than the Behavior Grid - which makes it easier to use in various contexts.
Let’s take 2 examples, with illustrative points for each ERRC element:
Applying ERRC to career strategy
Eliminate: Meetings with no purpose / agenda
and Reduce: e-mail wandering
to make space to Raise: involvement in high-impact cross-functional programs
and Create: networking opportunities with peers in other fields and countries;
Applying ERRC to personal learning strategy
Eliminate: Self-paced online courses from random people on the internet
and Reduce: articles that are actually content marketing
to make space to Raise: opportunities to exchange fresh ideas and practices with peers
and Create: deep study time for profound books in the fields I’m interested in.
Keep on adjusting,
Bülent
