#44 🧭💡Using the 90-21-7 strategy activation framework
For sustained progress on your priorities
The 90-21-7 framework for strategy activation goes like this:
90: What are your main 2-3 priorities for the next 90 days?
21: What do you want to achieve on these priorities in the next 21 days?
7: What will you do as concrete next steps in the next 7 days?
It’s as simple as that. As a personal example:
90 / priorities (strategic directions in which I invest):
My professional priorities for the next 3 months are:
A. writing business books and
B. getting to market a simplified Strategic Thinking course
21 / desired results (linked to the 2 priorities):
The results I want to see for the next 3 weeks are:
A. For writing:
Better business writing skills in Romanian;
Progress with collective writing endeavours with my colleagues from the Facilitation and Product communities;
Better editing skills.
B. For GTM around Strategic Thinking
Creating and sharing constantly on LinkedIn and via newsletters about Strategic Thinking;
Increased awareness and interest of existing clients about developing Strategic Thinking in their organization.
7 / concrete next steps next week (realistic actions that are doable given the current bandwidth):
A. For writing:
Review & edit the interview with a peer from the Product community;
Write the next 2 articles in Romanian about projects from real life and about the art & science of developing platforms;
Write the next personal strategy article about roles in a value ecosystem;
Curate the next OD newsletter;
Finish laying out in InDesign the next 2 chapters of the Power of Facilitation book, translated collectively with my peers from the Facilitation community.
B. For GTM around Strategic Thinking:
Finish the updated Strategic Thinking Toolkit by adding illustrated examples;
Create the Strategic Thinking 101 explainer to simplify the Strategic Thinking in Tech landing page;
Refine the positioning and value proposition of the Strategic Thinking in Tech course.
You can read more details about the 90-21-7 framework in this post by Marc Sniukas. I’ve simplified it to make it more accessible and usable by anyone interested.
Keep up the progress,
